Outfront Founders Jeanine Moss and Nicole DeMeo offered Gary Fowler, (investor, serial entrepreneur, unicorn builder and media personality) a behind-the-scenes look at the duo's unique background. On Fowler's Silicon Valley Tech & AI podcast, the founders discussed the many hats worn by Nicole (literally and figuratively) and Jeanine's strategic mission to avoid the Palm Springs heat. The two also opened up about their personal and professional endeavors in the worlds of cannabis, wine, and funding for women in leadership.
Though Nicole and Jeanine were happy to reflect on their individual paths, they couldn't do so without addressing the successes they've had together. The two shared stories from their early beginnings, reflecting on the challenges - and benefits - of having two distinct personalities on one team.
"We'll beat up the project, and each other, a little bit, but it's always for the betterment of the project and the client,” Nicole laughed. “Our clients even see us doing that, and they really appreciate it."
"Clients like having two heads," Jeanine added. "I remember the first time Nicole and I were in a business pitch, and we got into an argument over a solution set." The client hired them immediately. "He said, 'It's quite clear I'm getting two [perspectives] rather than one, and I really like that.' So, we really use both of these heads really heavily."
The Founders also talked about more recent ventures, including Outfront Solutions. "At the beginning of the pandemic, we knew that people needed our help. We have a deep background in crisis communication, so when we saw what was happening, we stepped forward to serve," Nicole said when discussing the birth of Outfront. She then added that their work is far from over: what started as a mission to assist companies in crisis has evolved, with their sites now set on helping companies navigate the forever-changed landscapes of marketing and technology.
